Robert (Bob) Edward Hall

While Robert (Bob) Edward Hall was born on January 15, 1934, in Tennessee, he always claimed Dumas, MS, as his hometown. Robert went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 24th, at the age of 92, at Harmony Square Morning Grove in Lakeland, TN. Robert graduated from Dumas High School in 1953. He moved to Memphis shortly after and began a career as a Teamster city truck driver. He spent most of his career with Mercury Motors and Ryder PIE Nationwide, but also worked for other companies. Robert was ordained as a Baptist deacon in 1980 at Oakhaven Baptist Church; his faith, Bible reading, prayer, tithing, and church attendance were of utmost importance. Robert spent many years after retirement as either a part-time church employee or volunteer. Robert loved his family. Robert leaves two sons, Ricky Hall (Phyllis) of Lakeland, TN and Michael Hall (Jeri) of Olive Branch, MS; six grandchildren who called him "Poppy" - Griffin (Sarah) Hall of Smyrna, GA; Emily (Ben) Pinkston of Olive Branch, MS; Garrett (Katherine) Hall of Roswell, GA; Patricia (Patrick) Childers of Memphis, TN; Josh Barwick of Chicago, IL; and Rebekah Millar (Zack) of Medford, OR. Robert also leaves six great-grandchildren - Jordan Priest, Anthony Pinkston, Riley Pinkston, Violet Millar, Henry Hall, and Jacob Hall. Robert also leaves a sister, Ruth Elizabeth Hatcher of Dumas, MS, and many other relatives. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, James William (Jim) Hall and Lillian Lelia Hill Hall; two brothers, William Roger Hall and James Luther (Luke) Hall; and one grandson, David Michael Hall. Robert was also preceded in death by his wives. He was married to Julie Ann Griffin Hall for 50 years. Robert was married to Nell Elder Hall for 9 plus years. Services will be on Wednesday, April 29th, at 2 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 3680 County Road 701, Ripley, MS, with burial in the church cemetery there. Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at 1 pm. Rev. Steve Cohea, grandnephew, will officiate. Michael Hall, Walter Hatcher, Greg Hatcher, and Bradley Hatcher will serve as pallbearers. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church Ripley. In addition, a memorial service for Robert will be held on Saturday, May 2nd, at 2 pm at Brookside Church, 4993 Hwy 302 East, Olive Branch, MS. Memphis family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation at 1 pm. The family appreciates all of the staff at Culpepper Place Assisted Living, Harmony Square at Morning Grove, Comfort Keepers, and Compassus Hospice who have provided compassionate and friendly care for the past three years.
