Randall Miller

Randall Whit Miller, lovingly known by his family as “Paps,” passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, surrounded by his family at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 73. Randall was born November 24, 1952, to the late R.G. Whit and Carlene Hall Miller of Ripley. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1970 and later earned his Bachelor of Public Administration degree from The University of Mississippi. He dedicated his career to serving the people of Mississippi through the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, & Parks, where he started as Hunter Safety Instructor and worked his way through the ranks to become Chief of Law Enforcement of the MDWFP. After 33 years of distinguished service, he retired with the rank of Colonel. Randall shared 49 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Kim Mauldin Miller. Their love and commitment to one another were evident throughout their lives together. He often said that no one could do things quite like his wife, and during the last few years, as his health declined, he found great comfort in having her by his side. Together, Randall and Kim raised three children and were blessed with ten grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Randall loved to tell stories about the “school bus” they ran each day—preparing early morning breakfasts, making school drop-offs, and later picking the grandchildren up after school. He was happiest when his home was filled with the laughter and activity of his grandchildren, who were truly his pride and joy. A dedicated cattle farmer after retiring from the MDWFP, Randall took great pride in caring for his family’s land. He enjoyed tending the cows, working the fields, baling hay, and ending hot summer days with Kim Mother’s homemade orange sherbet. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and especially loved hunting deer and turkeys throughout the years. Among his most treasured memories were the hunting trips he shared with his lifelong friend, Frank Shelton. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Pinhook Hunting club where he could be found cooking something up or playing a card game. Randall was a fighter who fought courageously to regain his health for the sake of those he loved. Through his devotion to his family, his commitment to service, and his love for the land, he leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends for generations to come.
