James L. (Pete) Dunnam

James L. Pete Dunnam passed away March 4, 2025 at his home in Ripley, MS. He was born December 18, 1949 in Tippah County, MS to Harold Eugene "Gene" Dunnam and Carolyn Garner Dunnam. Pete worked for Hill Bros. Construction for over 30 years as a traveling Heavy Equipment Mechanic and made Friends in the construction industry Far and Wide during his work in Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas. But when Fall arrived, Deer Hunting was his Love, his vocation and his passion! He always enjoyed hunting with his Pinhook Hunting Club Friends and enjoyed the Fellowship his Buddies provided. Tall tales have been told about near-misses at Deer, the many card games played after the hunt, the Rustic Wild Game stews cooked and shared at the camp, and the cases of Beer Drank...That was Pete !!! He was a Country-Boy at Heart, and he had a Vivid sense of Right & Wrong, and always done Right by all who crossed his path of Life...During Pete's later years, his Family was his Greatest Treasure! He Loved his Family, His Son Russell, and His Daughter SueAne with no exception. His Grand-children were his Pride and Joy. Pete always wanted to provide his Family a good Life and did so Daily. He was the 'Go-Getter' for two of his Grandchildren, Abby & Zack, and he met them everyday at Falkner Elementary School, usually the first truck in line at the School to pick them both up! A trip to McDonald's after school for the Grand-kids was always on the agenda: Hamburgers', Fries, Chicken Strips and Milkshakes were always in the sack for Abby & Zack to eat! Pete was proud he could provide his Grandchildren with more treats than he had in the Poor, Farm Life where he grew up in Tippah County...Pete displayed a Solid Character throughout his life. He showed compassion for his Fellow Man and Unbridled Love for his Family...Pete will be Greatly missed by all who knew him. Pete is survived by one son: James Russell Dunnam (Stephanie) of Ecru, MS; two daughters: SueAne Anthony of Ripley, MS; two brothers: Greg Dunnam of Ripley, MS, Randy Dunnam (Gina) of Tupelo, MS; one brother-in-law: James Blount of Tupelo, MS; four grandchildren: Abby Anthony, Zach Anthony, Hannah Brooke Dunnam, Christopher Puttigo. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister: Patricia Blount. Honorary Pallbearers: Randle Miller, Josh Miller, Burt Miller, Harold Hubbard, R.K.
