Geraldine Lunday

Mrs. Geraldine Lunday passed away peacefully at her home in Ashland, Mississippi, on July 14, 2026, at the age of 83. Geraldine was born on May 23, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Troy Johnson and Alice Parker Johnson. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Blue Mountain College before receiving her Master's degree from the University of Mississippi. She was married to the late L.C. Lunday, with whom she shared many cherished years. Geraldine dedicated 26 years of her life to serving as an educator with the Benton County School District, where she faithfully invested in the lives of countless students. Geraldine found great joy in painting and gardening, pursuits that reflected her creativity and appreciation for life's simple beauties. She treasured time spent with her family, especially gathering together for family lunches. A devoted member of Bluff Springs Baptist Church, she deeply loved her church family and was always willing to serve both her congregation and the community. Her life was marked by kindness, faith, and a genuine heart for others, and she will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Lunday; her parents, Troy Johnson and Alice Parker Johnson; one brother, Billy Johnson; one sister, Vivian Massey; and one grandson, L.C. Lunday IV. Geraldine is survived by her two sons, Cliff Lunday of Ashland, MS and Scott Lunday (Lisa) of Hernando, MS; her four daughters, Lisa Massengill (Michael) of Ripley, MS, Stacy Young (Richard) of Franklin, TN, Tracy Welch of Nesbit, MS, and Gwen Joyner (Turner) of Guntersville, AL; her brother, Johnny Johnson (Lisa); her fifteen grandchildren, Danielle Lunday, Justin Lunday (Taylor), Whitney Stokes (Jeff), Lawrence Massengill (Zach Bolden), Taylor Massengill (Zoe), Parker Young, Garrett Young, Shelby Young, Micah Welch (Bre), Rachel Welch Cline (Jared), Dillon Tacker, Luke Tacker, Maya Welch, Sierra Welch, and Lance Joyner (Ashley); and her seventeen great-grandchildren, Logan, Liam, and Levi Lunday, Emersyn, Major, and Mary Lisa Stokes, Jaden and Jeremiah Cline, Triston Tacker, Colton and Chase Lunday, Wyatt and Drake Joyner, Melody and Farrah Young, Edwina and Michael Massengill.
