Bobby Shan Shelton

Ripley, Mississippi--- Mr. Bobby Shan Shelton 74, passed away on Sunday April 3, 2016 at his home in Ripley, Mississippi. He was born on December 15, 1941, Bobby Shan was the son of the late Troy Miller Shelton and the late Mary Sue Coombs Shelton Childers. He was the step-son of the late Walter Clarence Childers. After graduating from Falkner High School, Bobby Shan attended Northeast and then Mississippi State University. He spent the majority of his working years as owner and operator of Bob's Auto Parts before retiring in 2014. A faithful member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Ripley, where he served as treasurer for over forty years, Bobby Shan had a servant's heart. Both those who knew him well and those by reputation considered "Bob" to be someone on whom they could depend. Gifted with the ability to fix just about anything yet always humble and patient, Bobby Shan willingly shared his time and talents whenever he saw a need that he could meet. Spending time with family and friends was easily his favorite pastime. Riding four-wheelers at the farm, vacationing with the family , taking care of his lawn, celebrating the holidays--wherever he was there was sure to be laughter. For those who knew him best, it is his laughter and kind spirit that will be missed most. A faithful husband, a loving dad, and a treasured friend, Bobby Shan had a way of making everyone feel secure and cared for. Bobby Shan is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years Gale Tapp Shelton of Ripley; one son, Jeffrey Shan Shelton (Brenda) of Ripley; one daughter, Leslie Ann Shelton of Hernando, MS; three grandsons, Nicolas Shelton (Tiffany) of Saltillo; Duncan Shelton (fiance' Ashleigh Agee) and Tanner Shelton, both of Ripley; one great-grandson, Jesse Shelton; one sister, Barbara C. McMillin (Larry Joe) of Blue Mountain; one nephew, Sam McMillin; numerous friends. Pallbearers will be his brothers-in-law Butch Tapp, Johnny Tate, and Larry Joe McMillin and grandsons Nicolas Shelton, Duncan Shelton, and Tanner Shelton. Honorary pallbearers will be his cousins Butch Coombs, Johnnie Coombs, Jimmy Coombs, Mike Farrow, and Steve Farrow, and friends Harry Ward and John Baker.
