Ruth Louise Baker Akin

June 4, 1922 - December 19, 2020

Our Grandmother's prayers were answered on Saturday morning, December 19th, 2020. She's now having the reunion of her lifetime with her Creator, her parents and her brothers and sisters. Ruth Louise Baker Akin was born 98 years ago on June 4, 1922 in Alma, Arkansas. What a blessed life she had. And we were so blessed to have her in our lives for so long. Can you imagine all that she saw in her lifetime? A can opener, a car radio, the jet engine, an artificial heart? What about the colored tv , a helicopter or kidney dialysis ? Even the slinky !Her parents were Arthur Baker and Beulah Birdsong Baker. She had two brothers, Ray Shappley and Clyde Worley. Here sisters were Leigh (Joy) Jaras, Dorothy Thornton and Donna Shapiro. In 1938, she married our Sweet Pa-Paw, William Elmo Akin. They were married for over 50 years until his death in 1990. Together, they had two sons. Davis Elmo (wife - Katie) deceased. And then, Houston Tate ( wife - Linda ) She had 5 fantastic grandchildren: Allen Akin, Karen Akin, Pete Akin - ( wife Rachel), Andrea Ebbitt - ( husband Taylor) and Andy Akin - ( wife Wendy ) She had 6 great grandchildren: Hannah Akin, Damon Akin, Alex Dillenbeck -(wife Shelbi),Mitchell Dillenbeck , Jackson Akin and Tanner Akin. She was a terrific "Aunt Ruth" to countless loved ones. And we all loved her and will miss her dearly.
