RIPLEY, MS – Mary Ruth Dooley, 61, died Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Desoto South, in Southaven, MS. She was born January 27, 1960 in Greenwood, Mississippi to James Douglas Compton and Martha Sue Compton. She was raised in Batesville, MS and graduated from South Panola High School. After graduation, she worked at Azalea Nursing Home in Wiggins, MS. While living in Wiggins, she met her husband of 39 years, Danny Dooley. They were married at the Pentecostal Church of Houston, MS in 1982 and moved to Ripley. She became a homemaker and raised her son, Douglas “Dewey” Dooley. She has lived in Ripley ever since, surrounded by friends and family. She also has been a devout member of The First Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain, MS. She had a passion for praise and service to the Lord. She was a prayer warrior who always had others spiritual wellness foremost in her prayers. One of her favorite bible verses was Psalm 61, 1 -3; “Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto Thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.” Her smile would light up a room and her character was infectious. She was a dedicated wife and mother with an endless ability to ensure her family’s needs were always foremost in her thoughts and action. A loving daughter, wife, and mother, she will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday August 20, 2021 at The First Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain, MS. Graveside visitation for family and friends will be held at the Water Valley Pentecostal Church in Water Valley, MS., starting at 4 p.m. She is preceded in death by her father: James Douglas Compton and her Uncle “Buddy” whom she loved very much. She is survived by her husband Danny Dooley, her son Dewey and her mother Martha Sue Compton as well as three sisters: Melodie Sue Smith, Tammy L. Murray, and Anita Jewel “Jill” Whitten; two brothers: John Michael Monroe “Mike” Compton and the Reverend Charles L. Compton. Mary loved and has always supported her family with encouragement and prayer, an infectious smile that would light up the sky, and lots of hugs. Loved by her family and now serving the Lord while dancing and singing with the angels. Her struggles are over and now she is wearing her crown in an everlasting light.
