November 12, 1945 - November 25, 2021
Benjamin “Wayne” Ridge passed away on Thanksgiving, Nov. 25th, at his home, trusting in God’s sovereignty in all things and surrounded by loved ones. He was born December 12, 1945 to Benjamin Garvin Ridge and Lillie Waldon Ridge. He was a musician and businessman who was also talented at repairing electronics of all types. He used his abilities to start his own business, Ridge Music and Electronics, which he operated with his wife, Edith, for over 50 years. He enjoyed talking to his customers, helping local churches with sound systems for their worship services, and encouraging budding musicians by listening to them play a little and then picking up a guitar to join them. He believed there was tremendous talent in North MS and loved promoting local artists. He was also an amateur radio operator (K5YPV) and from a young age was able to communicate with people from all over the world, long before cell phones made it easy. He loved to go exploring and that included traveling to new places, meeting interesting people, camping, visiting historical sites, and just driving down a country road to see where it led. In his later years, his adventures often included his grandchildren as he enjoyed teaching them and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Edith Mauney Ridge, his daughter Angie Ridge Taylor (David) of Saltillo, two sons, Benjamin Ridge and Jeff Ridge of Ripley, four grandchildren; Kathryn Corley Taylor of Boston (formerly Saltillo), Samuel Ryan Taylor of Saltillo, Benjamin Jayden Taylor of Brookhaven/Saltillo, and Andrew Ridge Taylor of Saltillo, and a host of extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Ridge. A private graveside service will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, please share a memory on the condolences site of McBride Funeral Home and take a moment to appreciate God’s gracious gift of music.
