Vivian Lenore Weaver

Vivian Lenore Wilbanks Weaver, lovingly known by so many as "Mama V," passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, Mississippi, at the age of 87. Born on January 11, 1939, in Walnut, Mississippi, Vivian was the daughter of Odis Wilbanks and Vadean Prince Wilbanks. On October 7, 1966, Vivian married the love of her life, William Morris Weaver. Together they built a home where Christ was honored, family was treasured, and everyone who entered was welcomed with warmth and kindness. Morris preceded her in death just over 10 years ago. She is survived by her daughter, Christy Hurt and husband Marty of Booneville, Mississippi, and their children, Hayden, Hana Beth, and Hadley Hurt; her son, Christopher Weaver and wife Carla Woods Weaver, and their sons, Chanapon and Paxton Weaver; her brother, Hugh Alvis "Bud" Wilbanks, wife Helen, and son Richard (Susan); and her brother, Avis Wilbanks and wife Sue. Nothing in this world brought Vivian greater joy than her family. She delighted in being a mother and grandmother and loved being involved in every milestone, celebration, and everyday moments of her grandchildren's lives. They were truly the center of her heart. When able, Vivian loved cooking for her family and was especially known for making the best red velvet cake. For more than thirty years, Vivian owned and operated The Cut & Style Barn, the beauty shop beside her home. If you sat in Vivian's chair, chances were, you were going to hear about Jesus. She believed every conversation was an opportunity to share the hope she had found in her Savior. She loved reading God's Word, especially the Gospel of John, and found daily strength and comfort in Scripture. She was most recently a faithful member of Gaston Baptist Church in Booneville, Mississippi, where she treasured her Sunday School class and loved attending service with Christy and her family. However, she spent most of her life worshipping at Overton Hill Community Church in Walnut, Mississippi. Some of Vivian's sweetest memories were made at Overton Hill, where she sang from the Heavenly Highway Hymnal with her lifelong friends Elaine, Loraine, and Peggy. At Overton Hill Vivian was not only a member but also served as a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. Those who knew Vivian will also remember the little things that made her uniquely herself. She never left the house unless her hair was fixed, and she had at least a “squirt” of perfume. Also, she could tell the story of how she and Morris eloped so often that her family joked they had heard it a million times. Even so, everyone smiled each time she shared it. Though her family mourns her passing, they rejoice in knowing that her faith has become sight. The Savior she faithfully served has welcomed her home, where she is forever healed, forever whole, and forever in His presence. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Overton Hill Community Church in, Walnut, MS. Bro. Jason Middleton and Bro. Kenneth Drewrey will officiate. Pallbearers will be Richard Wilbanks, Lee Wilbanks, Carl Wilbanks, Don Wilbanks, Teddy Cornelius, Sammy Cornelius, Jason Fiveash, and Mark Mathis. Honorary pallbearers are Hayden Hurt, Chanapon Weaver, Paxton Weaver, Eli Wilburn, and Richie Wilbanks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, 5159 West Main Street, Tupelo, Mississippi 38803. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Magnolia Place Assisted Living in New Albany, Mississippi. Your kindness, patience, and genuine love made Vivian feel at home, and your care brought great comfort and peace to both her and her family.
