Tommy LaBarreare

Tommy LaBarreare, born on August 19, 1950, to Roy and Glennie McMillin LaBarreare, went home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Kathy LaBarreare. For 60 years, Tommy was a member of Falkner Baptist Church where he served on numerous committees. Tommy was an instrumental part of the building process of the Family Life Center as well as the current church building. Tommy was a 1968 graduate of Falkner High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science Degree from Mississippi State University in 1972. After graduating from MSU, he worked at Falkner High School for three years as an Industrial Arts teacher. Tommy was deeply committed to his community where he humbly served as Rural Mail Carrier for 38 years, Alderman of Falkner for 30 years, Falkner Cemetery Committee for 40 years, and the Falkner Volunteer Fire Department for 8 years. Tommy had a lifelong passion for farming, growing row crops, and raising cattle. He also treasured the times working alongside his father helping him lay brick. He loved his work and never saw it as a burden but as an opportunity to provide for his family. When he wasn't working on the farm, he enjoyed spending time with family, watching sports, following Mississippi State Athletics, and attending ball games Janna coached. Tommy is survived by his wife Kathy; his daughters: Heather Ashmore (Nick) and Janna LaBarreare; two sisters: Vicki Wallace and Betty Stroupe (Ricky). He is preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Glennie LaBarreare; and one brother-in-law: Jody Wallace. Memorials: The family requests donations in Tommy's name to the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS, 5159 W. Main St., Tupelo, MS 38801 or Falkner Cemetery Fund, 10161 CR 200 Falkner, MS 38629. Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Childs, Johnny Cross, Jimmy Gunn, Chuck LaBarreare, Jackie Rutherford, Ricky Stroupe, Bobby Walker, Tony Weatherly. Honorary Pallbearers are: Karen Bates, Lisa Conely, Bubba Harrell, Gary Mozingo, Jackie McMillin, Larry McAlister, Jim Moran. Officiating will be Dr. Jeff Moore and Rev. Dr. Jody Hill.
