Thomas Henry Lewis

Thomas Henry Lewis, 89, of Olive Branch, MS was taken to be with the Lord and Savior on April 1, 2023. Thomas was born on June 30, 1933 in Clarkdale, AR. In 1950, Thomas married the love of his life, Evelyn Eloise Lewis, of Joiner, AR. Thomas and Evelyn started their life together in Memphis, TN. After the birth of their oldest son, Dennis G. Lewis, they moved to Illinois where Thomas worked at Stoner Manufacturing as a machinist for several years. After several years in the Chicago area, they had their second son, Thomas D. Lewis. In 1963, they moved back to Memphis and their youngest son, Rodney S. Lewis, was born in 1967. He later retired from the Memphis Publishing Company as a refrigeration engineer in 1995 at the young age of 62. Thomas served as Secretary/Treasurer of Frayser United Pentecostal Church for over 20 years as well as teaching Sunday School and numerous other volunteer duties within the church. Thomas and Evelyn lived in Ripley, MS for a short time and attended Blue Mountain Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. For the last 19 years, Thomas was a member of the Bethel United Apostolic Church. Thomas was a man of great faith, he loved his Savor, the Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout his life, he kept Christ in the center along with his wife and family. He loved volunteering his time at the church doing whatever needed to be done. Thomas will be remembered for his big smile, contagious personality, and genuine love of others. He never met a stranger and was a close friend to countless people. He loved his friends, his Memphis Tigers, and most of all he loved his family. One of his favorite memories that he always loved to talk about was the time he & Evelyn bought an RV and traveled across the Unites States, along with their close friends, Nolan and Shirley Hoskins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Burton, his father, Roy Lewis, and his brother, Reverend Billy W. Lewis. Thomas is survived by his wife of 72 years, Evelyn Lewis; his sons, Dennis G. Lewis of Olive Branch, MS; Thomas D. Lewis of Olive Branch, MS; and Rodney S. Lewis (Carmen) of Jackson, MS and grandchildren Dennis J. Lewis (Jody) of Marion, AR; Dawn Sheppard (Lance) of Byhalia, MS; Guy Jordan (Brionna) of Huntingdon, TN; Nehemiah Lewis of Jackson, MS; Caleb Lewis of Jackson, MS; 4 great-grandsons, 1 great-granddaughter, and a great great- granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Lewis (Marilyn) of Olive Branch, MS and his sister, Mary McNamee of Gun Barrel City, TX. He leaves behind countless nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandchildren Justin Lewis, Gabriel Lewis, Nehemiah Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Taylor Lewis, Caleb Lewis. Honorary pallbearer will be Alyssa Sheppard. Reverend Lee Cook will be officiating.
