Terry Ketchum

Terry Allen Ketchum passed away December 14, 2023 at Oxford, Mississippi Veterans Home. He was 82 years old. He was born February 26, 1941 to Freddie and Irene Bryant Ketchum a Ripley Mississippi. He graduated from Ripley High School. Terry served his country with pride and honor in the United States Army. He earned an electrical degree from DeVry Technical Institute. He also earned his pilot license, which was his dream come true. Terry acquired and held many different jobs throughout his working career. He owned an operated several of his own businesses, working at Tippah County Hospital. He was always eager to try different jobs. The jobs that brought him enjoyment was anything he could dream, design and build. He had a talent of building, any machinery or equipment he decided would be his next project. He also enjoyed taking discarded machinery and vehicles and cleaning, restoring, and getting it back to performing the task they were created to perform. He built machinery for several local businesses in this area. The last job he held before retirement was at Hill Brothers Construction Co., Inc. It was in maintenance, working restoring heavy equipment, of course. He made the statement many times he wished he could have had that job all his life. Terri was a Baptist belonging to Community Baptist for many years of his life. He enjoyed reading his Bible daily. He always helped ones in need. Terry is survived by his wife of 57 years: Nelda Hurt Ketchum; he was dad to his daughter: Kristie Ketchum Gibens and husband, Allen; his son: Greg Ketchum and wife Jacque; two brothers: Laverne Ketchum of Kieoneville, Mississippi, Lamar, Ketchum (Dorothy) of Ripley, Mississippi; mother-in-law: Eva Hurt of Ripley, Mississippi; he was Papa to three grandchildren: Jesse Gibens (Erica) Landon Ketchum and Mallory Ketchum. He was preceded in death by his sister: Ethel Leona Shelton and her husband Johnny Shelton; his sister-in-law: Chrystine Ketchum.
