Pansy Estes Dietze

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our angel on earth, Pansy B. Estes Dietze, has gained her well-earned heavenly wings at the beautiful age of 95. Though words cannot fully capture the depth of our loss, we remember and celebrate a life well lived, filled with kindness, laughter, a passion for living and unwavering love. Pam, as she was known to her friends, was born February 9, 1931, in Parmer, Mississippi to Robert Lee and Elizabeth Shappley Estes. She was the tenth born and last surviving of twelve children, which was her secret goal! Pam, or Mimi, as she became known upon the birth of her grandchildren, touched the lives of everyone around her. Whether lending a helping hand, providing loving care or chasing barnyard creatures so her grandchildren could pet them, she made the world a brighter place for all. Known for her antics by those she loved, she could be counted on to make midnight runs to the grocery store to grab ingredients to bake cookies if that was needed! Pam met her first husband, Frank, in Memphis, Tennessee. A group of three young men approached three young waitresses and asked them to have dinner with them after their shift ended. The young ladies agreed and Pam fell in love with Frank almost instantly despite the wheelchair that confined his quadriplegic body. As if that wasn’t enough of a task, she also wanted a child so desperately that once married, they adopted their daughter, Dana. They celebrated 25 years of marriage before his passing in 1981. Years later, she met W.E. “Bill” Haynes, IV and enjoyed a second full life until his passing in 1997. She then dedicated her life solely to her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Pam was preceded in death by her parents, her eleven siblings and their spouses: Robert and Thelma Estes, Paul Estes, Hiram and Edith Estes, Mattiebyrd and Donald Hobson, Mary Scarth, Jamie and Walter Whitby, Silas and Hortence Estes, Jo Lee, Kitty and John Amagliani, Dorthy Bennett and Steadman and Shirley Estes. She is also predeceased by many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She is survived by her only child, Dana Dietze Orfila, grandchildren, Jacquelyn and Guillermo Trevino and Pamela and Jacob Holmes. The light of her soul were her great grandchildren, Amelia Trevino, Leighton and Jacob Holmes. She is also survived by countless nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews. Also surviving her is a special friend, Joan Ellen Womack and her daughters. As we gather to honor her memory, we hold close the moments we shared and the lessons we learned. Though gone from our sight, she remains with us in spirit, guiding us forward with love and hope. A celebration of life will be held in Laredo, TX on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Celebrè Petit Salon, at 11:00 a.m.for all who would like to remember and honor our beautiful “Mimi”. We hope to see her friends and family there. Services will be held the morning of Saturday August 22, 2026, specific time will be announced at a later time.
