Nellie Rose Bryant

Nellie Rose Drewery Bryant passed away January 10, 2025 at her home in Ripley, MS at the age of 95. She was born June 2, 1929 in Tippah County, MS to Charlie Drewery and Nannie Tapp Drewery. She worked for American Biltrite as a Factory Worker and was a member of Mt. View Baptist Church. Ms. Nellie had a love for tending to her grandbabies and great-grand-babies. She enjoyed washing and ironing their baby clothes. She also had a love for her vegetable garden digging in the dirt watching it grow especially her tomatoes and canning as many possible. She and JD (Paw J) had a little competition on whose were the best. Had designated His and Her specific spots. After Ms. Nellie was unable to be with her church community she watched Bro. Steve Gains and other favorites on Sundays on the weekdays she watched the Waltons, Gunsmoke and Cops. Ms. Nellies favorite movie was “The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry” that taught about discipling the younger generation, reading their Bible and forgiveness. Anyone who knew her she could talk...never a loss of words. Always kept in contact with family and friends that were long distance. Ms. Nellie had a giving heart especially to anyone that had a need. St. Jude kids were special to her. One of the main lessons she preached to all of us kids is to pay your debts and be honest. The last five years (Kitty) Bandit gave her company and enjoyed the peaceful vibe he had. A quote she had written years ago, “Sorrow looks back. Worry looks around. Faith looks up. Ms. Nellie is survived by one son: Jesse Jones (Jo Ann) of Ripley, MS; one daughter: Starlett Jones of Ripley, MS; one sister: Wilma Daphine "Tootie" Rainey of Ripley, MS; four grandchildren: Candace Lowry (Robert), Craig Jones (Amber), Jonathan Jones (Amanda), Jarrett Jones (Leah); ten great-grandchildren: Cayden Lowry, Amber Thomas, Dylan Jones, Gaby Kuhl, Erica Hopkins, Cason Jones, Caroline Jones, Ayden Jones, Madli Sartain, Gavin Sartain, nine great-great-grandchildren; special friends: Helen Gooch, Caregivers of Gentevia Hospice and Centerwell; her cat: Bandit. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: J.D. Bryant; one grandson: Allen Jones; six brothers: Lyman Drewery, Marshall Drewery, Martin Drewery, Carl Drewery, Kelly Drewery, V.B. Drewery; one sister: Lola Lattimore. Pallbearers will be: Craig Jones, David Richardson, Harvey Rutherford, Cayden Lowry, Dylan Jones, Cason Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are: Jon T. Jones, Robert Lowry, Ayden Jones, Gavin Sartain, Jarrett Jones, Ryder Hopkins, Hollis Garrison. Officiating will be Dr. Jack Bennett and Bro. Randy Hurt. Memorials: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
