Minnie K. McMillin

Minnie Kathleen McCoy McMillin, or lovingly called “Marnee” by her grandchildren, was reunited in Heaven with a host of family and friends who have gone before on July 28, 2023. She was born November 1st, 1918, and was a twin to Richard Carroll McCoy who preceded her in death in 1973. She was the daughter of the late Mary Mintor Maddox McCoy (MeCoy) and Richard Randolph McCoy (MeCoy) of Tiplersville, MS. She was a sister to the late Mary Virginia McCoy Coltharp of Walnut, MS. She is survived by her only child, Mary Kathleen McMillin Blount (William) of Knoxville, TN, two grandchildren, Michael Blount (Ashley) in Nashville, TN and Samuel Blount of Birmingham, AL. She has three great-grandchildren, Baker Louis, Matthew William, and Thomas Arthur all of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by two close grandnieces, Jamie C. Allsup (Michael) of Suwanee, GA and Jennifer C. Bond (Bud) of Turrell, AR, and a host of family in North Mississippi. Growing up in the Tiplersville and Chalybeate areas, Marnee attended Chalybeate Consolidated High School and was an important part of the Women’s Basketball Team which won the 1937 State Championship. She was an All-State Guard for four years on that team. It was one of her brightest and best memories. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at a young age and married, in 1939, her sweetheart, the late Arthur Cecil McMillin of Falkner, MS. They lived in various places including Louisiana, Florida, Memphis TN, and Amherst OH, during their marriage. In 1968, she moved with her young daughter to the Walnut MS area after her husband’s death. She became an LPN and worked at Ripley Nursing Home and Western Mental Health, TN before retiring. After retirement Marnee moved to be close to her daughter and family in Knoxville, TN. She was active in church and lived many independent years. As she grew older, she lived for 11 years with her daughter and family and eventually moved to Raintree Terrace Assisted Living in Knoxville, where she made wonderful friends and enjoyed many activities. She recently moved to Westmoreland HRC in Knoxville for additional specialized care. She will be buried next to her husband in Tiplersville Baptist Church Cemetery Saturday August 5, 2023. Friends and Family can meet with the Family from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Tiplersville Baptist Church Sanctuary and are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life service starting at 2:00 in the Sanctuary. A private family burial will follow the service.
