Max Barkley

Ripley, Mississippi--- Mr. Max C. Barkley 87, passed away at his home in Ripley, Mississippi on July 26, 2015. Max was born on October 9, 1927 to Luther and Clyde Lee Barkley in Tippah County Mississippi. He and his wife, Helen were owners and operators of Barkley's Cleaners. Max was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Japan with the occupational forces during WWII. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Peoples Bank for over 40 years, a member of the Ripley Rotary Club, A Paul Harris Fellow, a 32nd degree Mason with Scottish Rites with the Ripley Masonic Lodge, and a member American Legion Post # 81. Max was an active outdoorsman and sports enthusiast with a Love for Quail Hunting, Golf, and Ole Miss Sports. He Loved his Family and Friends and His Nance Street Family. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church.
