Kathryn H. Gunn

Kathryn Holland Gunn of Walnut, Mississippi went to heaven peacefully at her home July 11, 2023, with her daughter at her side. Kathryn was a local business woman for fifty-four years and a member of Harmony Baptist Church. She was born in Slate Springs, Mississippi on August 24, 1931. After graduating high school she attended Blue Mountain College in Tippah County where she would meet her future husband, Curtis. After marrying July 3, 1950, they made their home in the Memphis area before moving to Walnut where they soon opened Gunn’s Market working side by side. She later opened Nanny’s Antiques. Kathryn is preceded in death by James Curtis Gunn, her husband of 44 years, her son Tommy Curtis Gunn, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Haven Holland, and her brother Henry Holland and sister Myra Vanlandingham. She is survived by her daughter Ann Gunn Frayser of Memphis, TN, and her daughter-in- law Betsy Gay Gunn of Hernando, MS; three Grandchildren she adored more than life itself, Paige Gunn Lucka (Eric) of Nesbit, MS, Britney Frayser of Charleston, SC, Pete Frayser (Susanna) of Atlanta, GA and eight great grand children who quickly won Nanny’s heart; Holland Kathryn Carimi, Sutton Gianna Carimi, Emma Kathryn Lucka, Macayle Gabriella Carimi, Jackson Grantland Frayser, Curtis Dean Lucka, Theodore (Teddy) James Frayser, and Leila Kathryn Frayser. Kathryn was a lady who loved her Lord, Curtis, her family, and friends. She also had a great tenacity for life, work and her community. All who knew Kat knew she was the definition of a living “fire-cracker.” Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Harmony Baptist Church. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery. Bro. Randy Buse will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Joe Hill, Butch Hill, George Vanlandingham, Kenny Gunn, Mike Gunn, Mickey Martindale Honorary Pallbearers will be Greg Scott, Jerry Hill In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Harmony Baptist Church or the Charity of your Choice. The family would like to thank the ladies of Legacy Hospice for the loving care they administered to Kathryn.
