Ivy Kelly Moseley

Ivy Kelly Moseley was born July 19, 1934, to Ivy Kelly and Beulah Wright Moseley in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Humes high school in Memphis and then went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War conflict. Kelly later worked for the Memphis Shelby County Health Department where he supervised the Insect and Rodent Control division. In 1976 he was recognized by the Tennessee Environmental Health Division as “Environmentalist of the Year” for his work on ending the encephalitis epidemic that was being spread by infected mosquitoes. After retiring from the city of Memphis Kelly and his wife Shirley moved to Benton County Mississippi. During this chapter of his life, he served as a Benton County Deputy Sheriff and later worked as a Supervisor for State of Mississippi Transportation Department. In 1968 he achieved the sublime degree of Master Mason. He was a member of Memphis Masonic Lodge #118 and a member of the Pine Grove Baptist church in Benton County for over40 years. Kelly was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Stanfield Moseley, his parents, two sisters: Jean Stokes and Shirley Cunningham, one brother: Frank Moseley, and one great-great grandchild: Cameron Rowell. He is survived by his two sons: Jeffrey (Darlene) Moseley and Phillip Moseley both of Hickory Flat, MS; three grandchildren: Jamie (Angela) Moseley of New Albany, MS, Angie Alberson of Hickory Flat, MS, and Kelly (Brian) Moseley Holbrook of Ripley, MS; thirteen great grandchildren: Katherine (Wesley) Rowe, Caroline Moseley, Amber Alberson, Michael (Amanda) Alberson, Jonathan Alberson, Brandon Alberson, James (Kayla) Gamblin, Jacob Gamblin, Chelsea Gamblin, Madison Gamblin, Anthony Gamblin, Ashton Holbrook, and Jackson Holbrook; and ten great-great grandchildren: John Everett Rowe, Elias Rowe, Tyler Rowell, Eli Rowell, Cheyenne Rowell, Natalie Alberson, Jayce Alberson, Ella Alberson, Charlotte Gamblin, and Elleanor Gamblin. On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, MS, Kelly went home to be with the Lord at the age of 88. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
