Herbert Charles Richardson

Mr. Herbert Charles Richardson, age 84, a beloved resident of Tippah County, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, April 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 15, 1941, in Blue Mountain, MS, Herbert was the son of the late Robert and Mary Faye Grady Richardson. A 1960 graduate of W.P. Daniel High School, he excelled on the basketball court and carried his love for sports throughout his life. A devoted Methodist, Herbert was known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. After working with LaSalle Mobile Homes and Pep Industries, he took a leap of faith in 1983 and founded R & R Gutters, a business through which he faithfully served many families across Tippah County and surrounding areas. In addition to his work, Herbert found great joy in driving a school bus for the South Tippah School District - a role he truly cherished. His love for people, especially children, was evident in the way he connected with those he served each day. Herbert had a deep and lasting love for sports, whether watching games on television or cheering from the stands. Nothing brought him greater joy than supporting his family. He was a constant presence at ballgames and events, first for his children, then his grandchildren, and later his great-grandchildren. No matter the distance, Herbert would travel far and wide just to be there. Win or lose, he was always their biggest fan - the loudest cheerleader in the crowd, beaming with pride. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Becky Moffitt (J.D.) of Ripley; his sons, Charles Richardson of Ripley, and Patrick Richardson (Janet) of Southaven; his sisters, Josephine Hamblin of New Albany, and Charletta Lansdell (Gene) of Blue Mountain; his grandchildren, Erika Stroupe (Raygan), Chelsey Moffitt (Christian Gonzalez), Ronnie Rowland (Melissa), Ryan Richardson (Olivia), and Amber Spellins (Aaron); and his eleven beloved great-grandchildren: Carson and Lana Rowland, Lynlee and Reese Ann Stroupe, Liam and Reyna Gonzalez, and Weston, Emryn, Jameson, and Vivianne Richardson, and Jax Spellins. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Dale Richardson; his brother-in-law, Milton Hamblin; his granddaughter, Anamarie Moffitt; and his brother Bobby Richardson. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care they provided. Special thanks are also extended to Cheryl Vance for her daily dedication, and to Cortney and Christie for their care and support on weekends. Herbert will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and the joy he brought to those around him.
