Everett B. Shoup

Everett Bryant Shoup, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 74. Born April 7, 1950, in Lubbock, Texas, to Lt. Col. Samuel E. and Ethel B. Shoup, Everett lived a life marked by service, faith, and a deep love for his family and community. Everett’s life was one of diverse accomplishments. Even in his youth, Everett's character shone through; he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was inducted into the Order of the Arrow. He served as a respected teacher and school principal, demonstrating a dedication to education that touched countless lives. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to success as a small business owner and farmer. His commitment to public service was evident in his tenure as Benton County Supervisor, District 1. Everett was a dedicated member of Ashland Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. His passions extended beyond his professional life. He enjoyed skeet shooting and boating and found great fulfillment in his missionary work with the Benton-Tippah Baptist Association. He shared his unwavering faith and the love of Jesus Christ with others through his involvement with the Gideons. Everett is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Sheri Graves Shoup; his three sons, Bryan (Suzanne) Shoup of Ripley, Chris (Jessica) Shoup of Ashland, and Jonathan (Erin) Shoup of Ashland; five grandsons, Trevor Shoup of Ripley, Thomas (Olivia) Shoup of Ripley, Jackson Shoup, Samuel Shoup, and Andrew Shoup of Ashland; and one granddaughter, Eliza Shoup of Ashland; his brother, Samuel (Betty) Shoup of Ashland; He also leaves behind a host of cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. Samuel E. and Ethel B. Shoup. Everett’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. His memory serves as a testament to a well-lived life. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Ashland Baptist Church, with visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. He will be laid to rest at Ashland Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Trevor Shoup, Thomas Shoup, Jackson Shoup, Michael Shoup, Trey Shoup, Dan Graves, Rob Graves, and Jason Huddleston, with the deacons of Ashland Baptist Church serving as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International.
