David Garland McClain

David Garland McClain passed away April 25, 2023 at his home in Ripley, MS at the age of 76. He was born March 13, 1947 to Joseph Duncan "Daddy Dunk" McClain and Mary Jacquelynn "Momma Jack" Ellis McClain in his home in Vardaman, MS. David was a self-employed plumber and worked for Jesco, Inc. He loved being outside and in his barn, his horses, chickens and all animals. He loved his family time and telling stories. He was a big dreamer and had a big heart. He never met a stranger and had many friends he loved dearly. David is survived by his wife: Donna Barber McClain of Ripley, MS; six sons: Timothy (Nicole) McVey of Murfreesboro, TN, Greg (Terri) Jirak of Michigan, Chris (Holly) Burks of Saltillo, MS; James "Jay" (Teresa) McClain of Blue Springs, MS, Billy Joe McClain of Ripley, MS, Jeffery (Hope) McClain; two daughters: Teresa McClain of Saltillo, MS, Angie (Mark) McClain Hataway of Mobile, AL; seventeen grandchildren: Brad McClain, Brandon (Nicki) McClain, Brent McClain, Austin McClain all of Ripley, MS, Logan McVey, Duncan McVey all of Murfreesboro, TN, Kristen (Jerry) Willis of Ripley, MS, Abby McClain of Baldwin, MS, Alyssa McClain, Nathan Hollis both of Saltillo, MS, Josie (Aaron) Hodum Mallon, Elizabeth Hodum both of Mobile, AL, Skyler McClain of London USAF, Shelby Burks, Avery Burks both of Saltillo, MS, Hannah Hopper and Tim Hopper of Walnut, MS; eight great-grandchildren: Clara McClain (adopted daughter) of Ripley, MS, Wyatt Mallon, Jaycee Mallon, Jameson Mallon, Joanna Mallon all of Mobile, AL, Myleann Willis, Charles Willis, Colton Willis all of Ripley, MS; one brother: Joe McClain of Ripley, MS; three sisters: Joyce Moore of Ripley, MS, Linda Alexander of Vardaman, MS, Pat Power of Ripley, MS; a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; one son: Joseph David "Davy" McClain; two brothers: Charles McClain, Bill McClain; four sisters: Shirley McClain, Sue Hardin, Elizabeth Faulkner, Beverly Barkley. Pallbearers will be his nephews: Buddy McClain, James Faulkner, John Faulkner, Gary Reed, John Reed, Rickey McClain, Jerry McClain, Robert McClain, Tim Moore, Mike Moore, Joey McClain, Billy Power, Nick McClain, Christopher McClain, Matt McClain. Honorary Pallbearers are: Jimmy Thrasher, Tate Thrasher, Danny Shackelford, Randy Roberson. Officiating will be Bro. Steve Cohea and Bro. Randy Smith.
