Bama Jean Hopper Gross

"It's important that when I stand before the Lord He says "well done good and faithful servant" I want to finish strong!" Without a shadow of a doubt we find comfort in knowing our loving mother, caring Mama Jean, loving grandmother and true friend, Jean Gross, age 94, heard those words we all long to hear one day, as she entered into her heavenly home at Tippah County Health and Rehab. She was a member of Dumas Baptist Church. She was born January 25, 1931 in Tippah County. She was the daughter of William Hubert Hopper and Lois Tapp Hopper. She received her education throughout Tippah County as her family were share croppers. Jean was employed at Tippah County Hospital and Nursing Home for 25 years. Her kindness, humor and dedication made the world feel a little brighter. She was always the one to take care of someone else. She always put other people before herself. The family asked that you continue to lift them up in prayer and remember Mrs. Jean for her unconditional love and caring nature that touched many lives while she was here on Earth. She was preceded in death by her husband: Edward Howell Gross; one granddaughter: Shasta Paige Gross; one sister-in-law: Holland McKinnon; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; her parents: William Hubert and Lois Tapp Hopper; five brothers: Leonzie, C.B., Bill Palmer "Pud" and W.L. Hopper; three sisters: Earline Wilbanks, Thelma Jones and Marie Rogers Hall. Those left to cherish her memories are her only child: Ricky Gross (Cindy) of Dumas, MS; two granddaughters: Chrissy Martin Ferrell of Ripley, MS, Destiny Pannell (Trevor) of Dumas, MS; one grandson: John Martini of Alabama; four great-grandchildren: Isaac Copeland, Emersyn Ferrell, Trevor Pannell, Jr. (TJ) and Redington Pannell; three nephews: Jimmy Gross, James Rogers of Pottsboro, TX, Billy Hopper of Jackson, MS; five nieces: Zillah McKinnon King, Shirley Rose Russell (Curtis), Margie Bullock of Dumas, MS, Jean Smith of Tiplersville, MS, Virginia Patterson of Olive Branch; Mazie Gross as well as many friends and cousins. Pallbearers: Trevor Pannell, Eric Barrett, Jimmy Walker, Phillip Miller, J.T. Hester, Bobby Jones. Officiating: Rev. Doc Shelton and Trevor Pannell.
